Thorn Hill Tool
Tools for Violin Makers
New Tools
Why These Clamps?
Smooth Operation. Nylon screws provide a smooth easy operation, gentle on the fingers.
Light Tension: Simply finger-tighten—no screwdriver or wrench needed
Even pressure distribution: Kit includes backing material to spread pressure across the entire lining for a no-gap-seam. Backing material is placed to protect the outside of the rib.
Reusable Backing Material: The backing material is reusable again-and-again because instrument glue will not permanently adhere to the backing material. It can be custom cut for a perfect fit.
Small and Light Weight: Clamp is aluminum with a nylon screw.
Directions
Cut the backing material to length to trace the outside of each rib-bout. Each bout should have it's own piece of backing material. The backing can be cut with stout scissors or a chisel. A permanent felt-tip marker can be used to label the backing pieces.
Position the backing material to protect the outside of the rib from clamp marks. If using a finished lining, additional backing can be used on the inside.
Tighten by hand until snug—finger tight is sufficient
Do not over-tighten: Excessive force can damage the instrument or the clamp!
Kit Includes
50 Clamps
5ft Backing Material
Packaging Size: Cardboard Tube 3.5 in x 5 in. (width x height, cylinder)
